Dataset background

This selection lists all CGN eggplant accessions that were genotyped by Barchi et al. (2023) using SPET genotyping. The authors genotyped 427 CGN accessions of eggplant and several wild relatives. This was part of a larger project in which a worldwide collection of 3499 accessions of eggplant and wild relatives was genotyped to study eggplant domestication. The study included 444 CGN accessions, but did not obtain genotypic data for 17 accessions. These 17 (non-genotyped) are excluded from the current selection.

Genotyping was performed using 5K SPET markers (Single Primer Enrichment Technology), in which primers are used to selectively sequence specific genomic regions.

The read files can be downloaded at the NCBI SRA database under project accession number PRJNA808188. An associated excel file detailing all eggplant genetic and genomic can be downloaded here below. Notably, unlike the publication, this Excel file provides the links between CGN accession numbers and the sequence read files so read data can be linked to CGN accessions.
